Bazzite Linux ships October stable update with kernel 7.2.8

The Bazzite Linux October stable update also adds InputPlumber gyro and rumble improvements and initial support commits for the ASUS XBOX Ally X20.

Bazzite Linux has released its first stable update for October, according to gamingonlinux.com. The update ships Kernel 7.2.8 and continues the distribution's hardware support work across handhelds and desktops.

Input handling gets the latest InputPlumber, with improved gyro and rumble support. Nvidia users can now run hardware-accelerated Waydroid, and Firefox Native Messaging is supported out of the box.

Several fixes address specific hardware and images: a Bluetooth initialization failure on some hardware, keyboards that could fail to type, MediaTek Wi-Fi reliability on systems using MT7921 and MT7922 adapters, and suspend issues on the ASUS ROG Ally. HDMI CEC now works on the Steam Machine. New installs on KDE images that sometimes failed to load the desktop were also fixed, and firmware pinning was removed now that the upstream issue is resolved.

Desktop, KDE and GNOME changes

Converter-style hardware is covered too: convertible laptops such as the Framework 12 now get a touchscreen navigation bar on GNOME desktop images. KDE virtual monitor setup has clearer guidance, including around the 503 error fix, and GNOME extensions were refreshed to newer versions.

Smaller cleanup was done around portals, web apps, services, and 'ujust'. Initial commits for the ASUS XBOX Ally X20 have landed. Full release notes are available on GitHub.
