Copilot App Adds Word, Excel and PowerPoint Editing

Microsoft has brought document creation, editing and collaboration into the Copilot app, with a Library view, for Frontier customers only.

Microsoft has rolled out full document creation, editing and collaboration inside its Copilot app, according to TechRadar. Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents can be opened, edited and shared directly in Copilot, rather than only inside the individual Office applications.

The app also gains a Library feature, which gathers documents into a single interface. Microsoft says users can still share, comment on and review documents from within Copilot.

The unified Office experience is currently limited to Frontier customers using Copilot Chat and Copilot Cowork.

From inside Office to inside Copilot

Previously, Microsoft focused on adding Copilot functionality into its Word, Excel and PowerPoint apps. In October 2025, after M365 executive vice president Ryan Roslansky departed, Office Product Group lead Sumit Chauhan was named one of the EVPs reporting to Charles Lamanna, the EVP for Copilot, Agents and Platform. At the time of that leadership change, Microsoft said it was working out what Copilot and the future of work should look like as one ecosystem.
