Crusoe files for two Jayton data centers worth $4.8B
The two Kent County buildings would add nearly 1.52 million sq ft of computing space and link to Crusoe's Project Hyper campus in Childress.
Crusoe has filed paperwork with Texas regulators for two computing facilities in Jayton, Texas, representing $4.8 billion in combined investment, according to techradar.com.
The applications place the buildings along Country Road 233 and P2390 in Kent County. Each facility will cover 759,260 sq ft, for a total of nearly 1.52 million sq ft of new computing space.
The filings classify both structures as "spur buildings" connected to Project Hyper in Childress. Combined planned investment for Project Hyper and Jayton reaches approximately $12 billion.
Construction at the Jayton site is scheduled to start in January 2027. The first facility is expected online in May 2029, the second in July 2029.
The filings do not identify a customer or state whether Crusoe will operate the facilities itself.
Earlier West Texas plans
Project Hyper in Childress comprises three facilities of about 806,360 sq ft each, with investment estimated at roughly $2.4 billion per building. Two of those structures are already under construction, and work on the third was expected to begin in the current month; all three are scheduled for completion on or before the end of June 2028. Meta has been reported as a prospective tenant at the Childress campus. Crusoe is also developing a campus for Google in Armstrong County, its Abilene facility is used by OpenAI, and additional capacity there is expected to be leased to Microsoft. In July 2026, Crusoe announced a partnership with Lancium for a planned 1.4GW computing campus on a 270-acre property in Childress.
