CXMT DRAM output forecast to reach 420,000 wafers in 2027
Counterpoint Research and TrendForce expect the Chinese chipmaker's DRAM capacity to climb from about 320,000 wafers this year, with 500,000-600,000 possible by 2028.
CXMT's DRAM wafer output is expected to rise from about 320,000 wafers this year to 420,000 wafers in 2027, according to forecasts from market research firms Counterpoint Research and TrendForce reported by digitaltoday.co.kr.
The two firms suggest CXMT's DRAM capacity could reach 500,000 to 600,000 wafers in 2028.
CXMT is expanding production of general-purpose DRAM used in PCs rather than HBM aimed at AI workloads. Most of the additional output is expected to be supplied to the Chinese market.
CXMT memory is reportedly already used by some Western manufacturers, though supply volumes remain limited. Its prices are said to be at a level similar to Samsung Electronics products.
Supply concerns linger
In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Dell CEO Michael Dell said the memory supply problem could last up to four years, through 2030, and warned the shortage could worsen next year.
