Dell: IBK Bank Builds Hanam Data Center Backup on Dell Systems
IBK Industrial Bank of Korea deployed Dell PowerProtect Data Domain, Cyber Recovery and NetWorker for its new Hanam Data Center backup setup, Dell said.
Dell Technologies announced that IBK Industrial Bank of Korea has built a new backup infrastructure for its Hanam Data Center based on Dell solutions, according to datanet.co.kr.
The bank deployed Dell PowerProtect Data Domain DD9400 and DD9900 appliances for backup, and used Dell PowerProtect Cyber Recovery and Dell NetWorker to configure its backup and disaster recovery environments. When replicating data to the Seoul offsite center and the DR center, Air Gap and Retention Lock technologies were applied.
An EMP shielding rack was installed at the offsite center to protect backup data from electromagnetic pulses and fire. Using PowerProtect Data Domain deduplication and compression, the bank achieved a data reduction ratio of about 44 to 1.
Before selecting Dell, IBK conducted a proof of concept comparing performance with other vendors' solutions.
Earlier setup
IBK previously operated a backup environment using physical tape. The Hanam Data Center began service in May 2025, expanding traffic capacity by more than three times compared to the previous center.
