Duo-Man App Brings Walkman Nostalgia to iPhone Duo

Apple's first foldable, the iPhone Duo, isn't out yet — pre-orders start later in October — but an indie developer has already built a nostalgic companion app for it. Vidit Bhargava created Duo-Man, which replicates a classic Walkman experience on the device's 7.6-inch inner display and 5.4-inch outer screen.

The app is designed around the foldable's form factor: users pick music with the device open, then listen with it closed. Bhargava recorded button clicks and static noise from a real Walkman to give Duo-Man an authentic feel, according to TechCrunch.

Duo-Man won second place at the Bitrig hackathon, and Bhargava's post about it on X topped 1.8 million views and nearly 10,000 likes. The app will support Apple Music and local files, and includes an Apple Pencil feature to roll the cassette loop.

Bhargava plans to make fast-forward and rewind work like the original Walkman, with Spotify support possibly added later. He has previously published apps including LookUp, Movie Buzz, and a time zone utility.
