Elorian launches Glimpse, a visual reasoning AI model, via API and chat
Elorian says Glimpse beat OpenAI's GPT-6 Astra on four tasks in its own evaluations and costs about 6% of Astra's per-token prices.
Elorian released Glimpse, a visual reasoning AI model that re-examines images and video during inference, as a research preview available through its API and a chat interface, according to aitimes.com.
In Elorian's own evaluations, Glimpse beat OpenAI's GPT-6 Astra on four tasks: science chart reasoning, counting specified object types, short video description and understanding robot manipulation scenes. Glimpse matched Astra on judging spatial relationships from a robot's viewpoint, but trailed it on scene understanding and some temporal reasoning tasks.
In a robot task-planning comparison, Glimpse planned a task of putting cream cheese in a bowl and placing the bowl on a cabinet at about $0.035, against $0.249 for Astra. API pricing is $0.60 per million input tokens and $3 per million output tokens, which Elorian says is about 6% of Astra's per-token input and output prices.
Glimpse is built by fine-tuning an open-weight base model on several hundred GPUs. The company is founded and led by Andrew M. Dai, formerly of Google DeepMind.
Earlier funding
Before the launch, Elorian raised a $55 million seed round at a $300 million valuation, led by Striker Venture Partners, Menlo Ventures and Altimeter Capital, with participation from Nvidia and Google chief scientist Jeff Dean.
