Eugenia Kuyda launches Wabi personal AI assistant to all users
Wabi connects to an email account and then builds its own threads and custom apps, with support for shared group-chat style threads.
Eugenia Kuyda launched Wabi for all users on Monday, October 19, 2026. The product is a multiplayer personal AI assistant that runs as a messenger app, with multiple agentic threads handling different tasks and long-term goals, according to TechCrunch.
Inside each thread, users can build and use custom apps, such as a weight-loss tracker or a list of nearby children's events. In the updated version, the agent itself chooses which apps to build and creates threads and apps automatically once an email account is connected.
Wabi's threads can also be shared between users and work like group chats. Access is scoped to individual chats and is visible when personal information is requested, the company said.
Wabi is SOC 2 compliant and runs entirely in the cloud.
From Replika to Wabi
Kuyda previously served as CEO of the AI companion company Replika and founded Wabi after leaving that role last year. When TechCrunch covered Wabi's initial launch last year, it was described as a social platform for creating shareable mini apps with prompts, and it had raised a $20 million pre-seed round.
Earlier still, around October 2014, Kuyda presented the conversational chatbot IO, the first product from her startup Luka, at TechCrunch Disrupt.
