Leak: Galaxy S27 Ultra Gets Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6

A Naver report says the S27 Pro uses the standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, while the S27 and S27+ are tipped for Samsung's Exynos 2700.

Samsung's Galaxy S27 Ultra will run on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, while the Galaxy S27 Pro will use the standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, according to a report from South Korean leaker yeux1122 published on Naver and cited by Android Police. The same report says the Galaxy S27 and Galaxy S27+ will use Samsung's Exynos 2700.

The report covers the chip strategy for South Korea only; other markets were not mentioned. Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 a couple of months before the report.

Battery and design details

A certification indicates the Galaxy S27 Ultra will carry a 5700mAh battery and the Galaxy S27 Pro a 5200mAh battery. The Galaxy S26 Ultra and earlier generations were limited to 5000mAh batteries.

The S27 Ultra and S27 Pro are said to feature a rectangular camera island design, while the base models keep the floating design. The Galaxy S27 series is reportedly launching at the end of January or early February 2027.

The leak follows a Seoul Economic Daily report that Samsung was considering dropping Snapdragon for the Exynos 2700 in select markets including South Korea and Europe, citing overheating issues. Qualcomm CMO Don McGuire said on X that the overheating claim was "100% NOT accurate" and that there are no systemic thermal issues with the 8 Elite Gen 6.
