Gartner Japan Report and Super Software Survey Detail AI Impact on IT Sector

New reports highlight the status of AI security technologies and growing career anxiety among IT engineers regarding the necessity of non-coding skills.

Gartner Japan has published its 2026 Japan Security Hype Cycle, providing an updated look at the maturity of various cybersecurity technologies. According to the report, most AI-specific security technologies currently reside in the 'Innovation Trigger' phase. Meanwhile, AI TRiSM and AI governance have advanced to the 'Peak of Inflated Expectations' phase.

In a separate release, Super Software shared findings from a survey of 1,265 IT engineers concerning the evolving nature of their profession. The data indicates that more than 80% of daily AI users report feeling anxious about their career prospects if they do not acquire skills beyond traditional coding.

The survey also highlighted a divergence in how engineers value coding skills based on their AI usage. Among daily AI users, 24.3% identified coding ability as an important skill, whereas only 9.1% of non-users placed the same emphasis on it.

These findings follow a week of data releases between October 3 and October 9, 2026, which covered various trends in cybersecurity, AI adoption, and workforce development within the IT industry.
