Geely Unveils 2.2 MW EV Battery With 4.5-Minute Charge

Geely has announced a new electric vehicle battery capable of charging at up to 2.2 MW, a rate the company says can refill the pack from 10 to 70 percent in 4.5 minutes.
A fuller charge, from 10 to 98 percent, takes 8 minutes and 40 seconds, according to Geely. The pack has been tested in the Zeekr 001 and the Lynk & Co 10.
Thermal management is handled predictively through AI. Geely says the pack runs at an average temperature of 55 degrees Celsius during charging, with a peak of 65 degrees Celsius.
The company also claims AI-applied micro pulses of current reactivate lithium ions that accumulate at the negative electrodes during repeated fast charging, extending battery life by 20 percent.
Geely's brand portfolio includes Volvo and Lotus alongside Zeekr and Lynk & Co. Ars Technica reported on the announcement.
