GitHub Unveils Copilot Fusion, Projects and New Enterprise Billing at Universe 2026

GitHub announced Copilot Fusion, Copilot Projects and a usage-based enterprise model at GitHub Universe 2026 on October 29.

GitHub announced new Copilot AI-agent features, a new enterprise licensing model and infrastructure expansion at its GitHub Universe 2026 conference on October 29, 2026, according to gamebiz.jp.

The new Copilot Fusion combines multiple AI models based on task characteristics. GitHub says Fusion Max halves cost and cuts task execution time by 40% compared with Opus 5.5 Max. The Copilot app now unifies issue management through merge in a single interface, covering spec writing, design discussion and telemetry analysis. Copilot Projects automatically runs work across multiple repositories in managed parallel sessions, with progress visible on one screen. Session handoff lets the same cloud AI agent session continue across VS Code, CLI, Web and mobile without restarting. Copilot Automation was expanded to learn from automated workflow results and suggest improvements to developers, and Copilot Code Review Max adds a high-precision review engine that detects high-severity issues.

On the enterprise side, GitHub Enterprise customers will get all Copilot features without additional subscription contracts, under usage-based AI credit billing with an option to migrate from existing plans.

Infrastructure also received attention at the event. GitHub said it added 4 million CPU cores, 160PB of high-speed storage and 50Tbps of network capacity during 2026 to handle growing AI agent workloads. The company is moving to a multi-region configuration on Microsoft Azure, expected to complete in early 2027.
