Google expands AI Mode ads to international markets

Alphabet also reported third-quarter revenue of $127.6 billion, up 25% year over year, as Google Search revenue rose 12%.

Google said on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, that it is expanding ads inside AI Mode to international markets, and rolling out multi-turn ads and AI Mode advertising in the U.S., according to TechCrunch. The announcement came during Alphabet's third-quarter earnings call.

Google chief business officer Philipp Schindler said click-through rates for sponsored product listings in AI Mode are comparable to those for organic listings. The company did not disclose further performance figures for the format.

The advertising push sits alongside a quarter in which Alphabet reported revenue of $127.6 billion, up 25% year over year. Google Search revenue grew 12% year over year, while the Google Services division generated $96.3 billion, up 11%. Google Cloud revenue rose 103% to $30.7 billion. Alphabet shares fell 8% after the results.

On the same call, CEO Sundar Pichai said Search queries grew at their fastest year-over-year rate in five years, without giving the rate. He said queries in AI Mode are three times longer on average than traditional searches, and that one in five AI Mode searches globally involves voice, images or documents. Pichai also said Google has surpassed 50 billion visual searches per month.

Existing ad formats and earlier growth

In May 2026, Google announced Gemini-powered ad formats including conversational discovery ads and sponsored recommendations inside AI-generated answers. Search revenue had grown 17% year over year in the second quarter and 19% in the first quarter.
