Google launches Dreambeans AI app in India with 13 local languages

Dreambeans arrives in India on Android and iOS as Google's first market outside the U.S., with story generation limited to one selected language at a time.

Google launched its experimental AI app Dreambeans in India on November 2, 2026, marking the app's first market outside the U.S. The app is available on Android and iOS with support for 13 local languages, including Hindi, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Bengali, alongside English, according to TechCrunch.

Users can select only one language at a time for the illustrated stories they generate, and the app cannot currently produce stories that mix languages — a limitation that covers mixed Hindi-English usage known as Hinglish.

Google said it picked India as the first international market because of strong interest from Indian users and a high overlap of users across Gemini, Gmail and Google Photos.

Dreambeans is open only to holders of personal Gmail accounts, not enterprise users, and the stories it generates are visible only to the account holder. Users can choose which Google services to connect, disconnect them at any time, and delete their Dreambeans data from inside the app.

Google product manager Gozde Oznur said the company is exploring ways to make Dreambeans more actionable beyond personalized stories and recommendations.

U.S. rollout context

Google introduced Dreambeans in June 2026, using data from connected Google services such as Calendar, Gemini, Gmail, Photos, Search and YouTube to generate personalized illustrated stories without prompts, built on its Personal Intelligence technology. Less than two months before the India launch, Google made the app available to all eligible U.S. users aged 18 and older, and it recently added a feature that uses its Veo video-generation model to animate images in select stories.
