Google releases Gemini 4 Argon to Pro and Ultra subscribers

Google says the new model tops the Vals Index at 68.9% and cuts prompt-injection success to 0.7%, with API pricing doubling on December 1.

Google released its Gemini 4 Argon AI model on October 13, 2026, making it available to paid subscribers of the Gemini Pro and Ultra plans in the Gemini app and in AI Mode in Google Search. Developers can reach the model through the API and through Google Antigravity, the company's agent development platform.

Google said Gemini 4 Argon ranked first on the Vals Index, which measures performance in finance, coding, legal and tax work, scoring 68.9% against about 67.0% for Anthropic's Claude 5.5 Opus and 63.1% for OpenAI's GPT-6 Astra. The company also said the model scored 77.9% on the DeepSWE 1.1 benchmark, ahead of Astra's 74.1%, but trailed on Terminal Bench 4.0 with 57.4% versus 58.2% for Astra and 66.4% for Claude 5.5 Opus.

Safety and pricing

On security, Google said Gemini 4 Argon allowed only a 0.7% success rate for prompt injection attacks, compared with 1.0% for Claude and 8.5% for Astra. The model is priced at $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens until November 30, rising to $4 and $20 from December 1.

Google cited early enterprise uses: Isomorphic Labs said it used Gemini 4 Argon to cut extraction of information from complex PDF documents and patents from weeks to hours, while Gamow Labs said a research pipeline built on the model found chromosomal rearrangements that existing clinical software had missed for years.

Google first disclosed the model's performance on September 30, 2026, and gave limited access to cybersecurity experts for two weeks before the public rollout, according to bloter.net. The company said it will release the remaining models in the Gemini 4 family.
