Google Health update expands auto workout detection to over 100 activities
Fitbit Air, Pixel Watch 3, 4 and 5 and Fitbit Edge now log more than 100 activity types automatically with Google Health 5.11.
Google Health version 5.11 has begun rolling out expanded automatic activity detection to Fitbit Air, Pixel Watch 3, Pixel Watch 4, Pixel Watch 5 and Fitbit Edge, according to 9to5google.com. The update raises the number of recognised activities from 10 to more than 100.
The supported list covers cardio machines, golf, high-intensity workouts, racket sports, strength training, swimming and team sports. A workout is logged automatically when it involves a sustained elevated heart rate that meets a minimum duration.
The app typically sends a summary notification within 30 minutes. Users can confirm or edit the detected activity, and Google uses those corrections to tune future predictions.
Google claims the system delivers nearly 2x more accurate detections and more than half fewer missed workouts. Users who install the update see an “Expanded activity detection, built to learn” screen.
Google Health 5.11 is widely available on iOS and is still rolling out on Android. With the Fitbit Edge announcement, Google Health previously previewed improved automatic activity tracking.
