Google Maps Debuts Fan-Favorite Dining List, Adds Square and Uber Eats Ordering
Google's first fan-favorite dining list covers 10 global cities, as Google Maps expands conversational food ordering beyond Toast.
Google on Tuesday revealed its first fan-favorite dining list for Google Maps, compiling dining trends across 10 global cities, and expanded conversational ordering support to Square and Uber Eats alongside Toast. Google Maps users can now place food orders through Square and Uber Eats in addition to Toast.
The list covers Atlanta, Chicago, London, Melbourne, Montreal, New York, San Francisco, Santiago, Seattle, and Tokyo. According to Google's list, cheeseburgers had a 216% increase in trending interest in Tokyo during the past year, while michelada experienced a 78% increase in trending interest in Santiago, Chile.
The changes build on Google's August announcement that Ask Maps, its Gemini-powered chat tool, could understand conversational prompts to help users find restaurants and place orders via Toast, which was the only officially named Google partner at the time.
The update follows Google's earlier work with Gemini, the company's AI model, which powers the conversational search and ordering features within Maps.
