Google Wallet adds Oklahoma IDs as 13th digital ID option

Oklahoma state IDs can now be stored in Google Wallet on Android, joining 12 other US states and Puerto Rico.

Google Wallet on Android now supports Oklahoma state IDs, according to 9to5google.com. Oklahoma becomes the 13th digital ID option available in the app.

The Oklahoma digital ID joins those from Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Georgia, Iowa, Maryland, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota, Ohio, and Puerto Rico.

The Oklahoma card design shows the American Bison and the scissor-tailed flycatcher. Setting it up requires photos of the front and back of the physical card along with a short video of the user's face.

Once stored, the ID can be shared via NFC or QR code. The feature requires Android 8 or later with a screen lock in place, plus Bluetooth and Nearby devices enabled.

Users can delete the digital ID from Google Wallet or remotely through myaccount.google.com. Google notes the digital version does not replace the requirement to carry a physical card.

Previous expansion

At the end of August, Google Wallet launched its previous digital state ID.
