No South Korean mobile carrier appears on the GSMA board list for 2027-2028, according to etnews.com. SK Telecom, KT and LG Uplus are all absent from the next roster, ending about 24 years of Korean representation on the board.
The incoming board includes AT&T, Verizon, Vodafone, Deutsche Telekom, Orange and Telefonica. KT, KDDI, TIM and Telenor are among the current board members dropped from the next list.
China Mobile, China Telecom and China Unicom all newly joined the board, and NTT Docomo was included from Japan. Among South Korea, China and Japan, only South Korea has no carrier on the next GSMA board.
Two decades of Korean board seats
South Korean carriers had participated in the GSMA board continuously for about 24 years since 2003. KT served on the board from 2003 and SK Telecom from 2008, alternating. From 2014 to 2018, both KT and SK Telecom were board members.
In 2025-2026, KT was the only South Korean carrier serving as a GSMA board member. The GSMA organises the MWC series of mobile industry events.
