Hancom Sells Entire Stake in Wannago Trip Operator MadX

Three Hancom executives resigned from MadX Company's board on August 31, and two new internal directors were appointed on September 8.

Hancom has sold its entire stake in MadX Company, the operator of the travel platform Wannago Trip, according to bloter.net. The sale comes about a year after Hancom consolidated MadX Company as a subsidiary.

Hancom had held a 51.3% stake in the company and treated it as a consolidated subsidiary since October 2025. Hancom executives Kim Yeon-soo, Park Mi-young and Lee Chang-joo resigned from MadX Company's board on August 31, and Kim Dong-hwan and Song Sang-ho were appointed as new internal directors on September 8.

Hancom first invested in MadX Company in August 2021, buying a 31.3% stake, and acquired an additional 5 percentage points in 2024. In 2025 it exercised a call option to buy 15.0% (3,600 shares) for 3.44 billion won, lifting its holding from 36.3% to 51.3%.

MadX Company was founded in 2012 by CEO Kim Myung-jin as Culture Playground. It recorded 4.465 billion won in revenue and 2.855 billion won in net profit in 2024, with net profit falling to 1.061 billion won in 2025. After consolidation, it posted a net loss of 600.77 million won in the fourth quarter of 2025, then returned to profit with 1.436 billion won in revenue and 362.71 million won in net profit in the first half of 2026.

On May 31, 2026, Kim Myung-jin stepped down as CEO and Hancom CEO Kim Yeon-soo was appointed as an internal director and CEO of MadX Company. Kim Myung-jin returned as CEO on August 27, 2026.
