Hanmi Pharmaceutical Finalizing Efpeglenatide Supply Price

Hanmi Pharmaceutical says the final price for its obesity drug Efpeglenatide is not yet decided as it targets a first shipment by the end of this month.

Hanmi Pharmaceutical is in the final stage of internal coordination to set the supply price of its obesity treatment Efpeglenatide, the company said. It aims to supply the first batch of the drug to the market by the end of this month, according to ineews24.com.

The company stated that it has not disclosed any price range for Efpeglenatide and that the final price has not yet been decided.

South Korea's Ministry of Food and Drug Safety granted approval for Efpeglenatide in five doses: 2mg, 4mg, 6mg, 8mg and 10mg, as a once-weekly injection for weight management in adults with obesity or overweight.

Hanmi Pharmaceutical licensed Efpeglenatide to global pharmaceutical company Sanofi in 2015 and regained the rights in 2020. In a Phase 3 interim top-line trial of 448 Korean participants, the drug showed an average body weight change of -9.75%, with up to 30% weight loss.

For context, in the first half of this year, domestic sales of Mounjaro reached 744.3 billion won and Wegovy 217 billion won, according to IQVIA. Wegovy is priced at around 200,000-400,000 won per month and Mounjaro at 300,000-600,000 won per month depending on dosage.
