IonQ to acquire cybersecurity startup Elicity for $1.3B

Quantum computing company IonQ said it will buy Elicity, whose platform maps corporate devices and enforces safer access policies.

IonQ announced on October 12, 2026 that it will acquire cybersecurity startup Elicity for $1.3 billion, according to SiliconANGLE.

Elicity provides a software platform that automatically discovers devices connected to corporate networks, including employee PCs, servers and factory sensors. The platform detects security vulnerabilities, especially devices with overly broad access permissions, and can automatically generate safer access policies that administrators can test in a simulation tool before applying them.

IonQ plans to add capabilities for finding and fixing quantum-related security risks to Elicity after the acquisition closes.

IonQ CEO Nicolò de Masi said Elicity's proven enterprise policy enforcement capabilities and deployment experience will be added to IonQ's quantum security strategy.
