Kakao details 'Modu-ui AI' prep, CBT underway, launch by year-end

Kakao said at its 'If Kakao 26' developer conference that the government-backed service is in closed beta and targets 5 million MAU.

Kakao presented its preparation process for the government-backed 'Modu-ui AI' project at its developer conference 'If Kakao 26', held at Kakao AI Campus in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, on October 14, 2026, according to techm.kr.

A closed beta test is currently running, accessible from the KakaoTalk chat list and channels as well as via web.

Kakao plans to select and provide roughly 500 tools already registered on its 'PlayMCP' after verification and screening, and it aims for an official launch of 'Modu-ui AI' by the end of this year with a target of 5 million monthly active users.

The company also plans to introduce personal agents in stages next year in a 'one person, one agent' format.

Background: 'Modu-ui AI' is a participant in the government's large-scale support project of the same name. KakaoTalk has 50 million users, whose operating experience Kakao is leveraging.
