Krafton, Seoul National University begin 3-year World Model AI research

Krafton has started a three-year joint research project on World Model AI technology with Seoul National University, covering three tasks for games and robotics.

Krafton announced it has begun joint research on World Model AI technology with Seoul National University (SNU) for game and robotics applications. The project will run for three years and cover three research tasks, according to inews24.com.

The two sides recently held a joint research launch ceremony at Seoul National University. The event was attended by Krafton CAIO Lee Kang-wook and SNU professor Kang Yoo. The research is conducted through SNU's interdisciplinary AI graduate program.

The first task aims to keep space and object forms consistent when AI generates long videos. The second will develop technology to naturally connect the movements of people and surrounding objects using motion data from games. The third will verify whether AI accurately recognizes spatial information such as corridor width and distance to objects in virtual environments.

The partners will also work on criteria for objectively evaluating research results, and will pursue sharing research results through a joint research center and student internships.

Earlier cooperation

In November of last year, Krafton and Seoul National University signed an industry-academia cooperation agreement covering joint research, personnel exchange and establishing a corporate research center within the graduate school. Last year, Krafton established a robotics research corporation in the United States called Ludo Robotics, and in February of this year it also established a Korean corporation for robotics.
