KT Cloud Debuts BIM Case Study for AI Data Center Build
KT Cloud presented a case study on applying building information modeling to AI data center construction and operations during an October 7, 2026 webinar, per byline.network.
KT Cloud presented a case study on using building information modeling (BIM) to construct and operate AI data centers at a webinar titled "Raising the Standard of DC Operations in the AI Era" on October 7, 2026, according to byline.network.
Lim Tae-hoon, a data center project manager and director at KT Cloud, described BIM as a digital building with unique characteristics, not merely a 3D drawing.
KT Cloud introduced a preemptive design method based on the MacLeamy curve that focuses investment from the beginning of a project. The company also said that at data center construction sites, augmented reality devices and LiDAR-based professional scanners are used instead of paper drawings to record spaces in 3D.
After construction is completed, the construction data is transferred to a digital twin model for the operation phase.
Background
South Korea has been applying BIM to public construction projects with a total cost of 100 billion won or more, and plans to expand mandatory application to projects worth 500 billion won or more in 2026 and 300 billion won or more in 2028.
