LG and Apple unveil seven smart home devices in New York
The lineup includes indoor and outdoor cameras, a doorbell, a smart lock, a thermostat and a temperature sensor, launching first in the US, Canada and the UK.
LG Electronics unveiled seven jointly developed IoT smart home devices with Apple at an Apple product event in Manhattan, New York, on October 13, 2026, according to inews24.com.
The seven products are an indoor camera, two types of outdoor cameras, a doorbell, a door lock, a thermostat and a temperature sensor. The smart door lock uses sensors to detect movement and entry intent, opens the door automatically, and notifies the phone if the door is not properly closed or if someone tries to force it open.
The outdoor camera and doorbell recognize delivered packages and send notifications, and can distinguish people, animals and cars. The indoor camera detects unusual sounds such as a child crying or glass breaking, and switches to privacy protection mode automatically when family members return home.
Indoor temperature can be adjusted based on the user's location and weather via iPhone or Apple Watch, and per-room temperature sensors allow control by space such as living room and bedroom. The products work with both LG Electronics' smart home app ThinQ and Apple's Home app, with security handled by LG Electronics' LG Shield and Apple's data encryption technology.
The new products are scheduled to launch first in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom within the year. Apple has more than 2.5 billion active devices worldwide.
Jeong Ki-hyun, vice president and head of LG Electronics' HS Platform Business Center, said the companies combined LG's home appliance expertise with Apple's user experience and both companies' security capabilities. LG Electronics had previously focused on connecting home appliances such as refrigerators, washing machines and air conditioners through its smart home business.
