LG Electronics leads new Korean dryer efficiency ratings with 35 Grade 1 models
LG Electronics was the only company to receive Grade 1 for all 35 of its dryer and Wash Tower models under Korea's revised standards.
LG Electronics has become the only company to earn Grade 1 under Korea's strengthened energy efficiency standards for clothes dryers, with 35 of its models certified at the top level, according to etnews.com.
The certified lineup covers 20 dryer products in the 20-25 kg capacity range and 15 Wash Tower all-in-one washer-dryer models.
The Grade 1 dryers rely on LG's AI Core Tech, which combines inverter compressors and direct drive motors with AI-based control that detects the weight and material of a laundry load. According to the company, Grade 1 products can cut energy use by 30-40% compared with Grade 5 models.
The Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment tightened the energy efficiency rating criteria for dryers manufactured after October 1, 2026. LG Electronics said it plans to expand the supply of high-efficiency appliances in Korea and overseas markets.
Earlier efficiency commitments
At IFA 2026, LG Electronics showed ultra-high-efficiency washing machines, dishwashers and refrigerators that it said used 70% less power than required for Europe's top energy grade. The EU had previously reclassified its appliance rating system from A+++ to D into A to G grades.
