LibreOffice 26.8.2 fixes startup crash on macOS 27 Golden Gate

The Document Foundation's second point release in the 26.8 series addresses about 35 bugs, including Impress audio problems and a Calc copy regression.

The Document Foundation released LibreOffice 26.8.2 on October 29 Central European Time, according to forest.watch.impress.co.jp. The update is the second minor release in the LibreOffice 26.8 series and fixes about 35 bugs.

Among the fixes is a crash at startup on macOS 27 Golden Gate. The release also addresses a crash when using autocorrect in Writer text form fields, and a crash when scrolling slides in Impress during media playback.

Audio playback issues in Impress are corrected on Windows and with inserted MP3 files. In Calc, the update fixes a regression from LibreOffice 26.8.0 where copying a sheet treated relative references as absolute, and adds support for web query (.iqy) files.

The build also resolves a problem where DOC, PPT and XLS documents saved in Compound File Binary version 4 could not be loaded or opened as unreadable text. A new option restricts hyphenation near the boundaries of compound word components.

The LibreOffice 26.8 branch was released with a focus on typesetting quality, support for the world's writing systems and interoperability with other office suites. The older LibreOffice 26.2 series reaches end of support on November 30.
