Reports Point to Notch-Free Redesigned MacBook Pro

Bloomberg and Omdia reports describe a thinner, lighter MacBook Pro with a hole-punch camera, Dynamic Island and slightly larger screens.

Apple's fully redesigned MacBook Pro is reportedly set to drop the display notch in favor of a small hole-punch camera cutout with a built-in Dynamic Island, according to reports from Bloomberg and Omdia. The same reports describe a thinner, lighter body and slightly larger screens.

Bloomberg reported that the new MacBook Pros will be significantly lighter, with reengineered interiors and rearranged components. An Omdia report says the redesigned models will come in 14.3-inch and 16.3-inch screen sizes, compared with the current 14.2-inch and 16.2-inch panels.

Taken together, the reports describe three design changes: no notch, a thinner and lighter chassis, and marginally bigger displays.

The notch first came to the Mac line with the MacBook Pro in 2021, and the current design is the first new one since that generation. Earlier this week, Bloomberg reported the new MacBook Pros are significantly lighter, while the Omdia size figures circulated this summer. Apple has not announced the redesigned MacBook Pro.
