Manus raises $500M after Meta deal collapse

Manus closed a funding round of more than $500 million led by Bowie Capital and IDG Capital, with Tencent, HSG and ZhenFund participating.

Manus raised more than $500 million in its first funding round since its acquisition by Meta fell through, according to digitaltoday.co.kr. The round was led by private equity firm Bowie Capital and venture investor IDG Capital.

Existing shareholders Tencent, HSG and ZhenFund also took part. Manus parent company Butterfly Effect did not disclose the post-money valuation.

The startup has also shipped new products: Manus 2.0, built on its own execution system Cascade, and Q, a standalone personal agent app that gives each agent an email address, phone number and mobile wallet.

In October 2025, Bloomberg reported that Manus would raise its valuation to $4 billion in this round, double its previous funding round. If that valuation holds, the company would become the highest-valued AI agent company in China.

Chinese authorities previously blocked Meta's attempt to acquire Manus for $2 billion. Meta had been working to integrate Manus's team and technology into its own systems, but the deal collapsed due to China's intervention.
