Mistral releases weights of 1 trillion parameter Mistral Large 4
Companies and government agencies can download and run the open-weights model in their own environments, according to TechCrunch.
Mistral has published the weights of Mistral Large 4 (ML4), an open-weights AI model with 1 trillion parameters, allowing businesses and government agencies to download and run it in their own environments. TechCrunch reported the release on October 29, 2026.
ML4 was developed under the codename Le Chonk and was first unveiled earlier in October 2026. Publishing the weights means organisations can deploy the model on their own infrastructure rather than only through a hosted service.
Mistral says ML4's performance is comparable to GLM-5.3, a Chinese open-weights model. The company also says ML4 topped the open-model ranking in the agentic coding category of the Artificial Analysis Coding Agent Index.
Mistral is headed by CEO Arthur Mensch, with Pierre Stock serving as vice president of science.
