Monotype Survey: 62% Cite Font Problems Among Top Work Difficulties
More than half of respondents also source font licenses through multiple design platforms, according to the Monotype survey of mid-sized and large companies.
Monotype has published a survey of mid-sized and large companies finding that 62% of respondents name missing or inconsistent fonts as one of the three biggest difficulties they face at work, according to ZDNet Korea.
The survey also examined how companies obtain their fonts. 56% of respondents said they acquire font licenses through multiple design platforms, 38% use only one platform, and the remainder obtain fonts through outside agencies or directly from type foundries.
Respondents rated five factors as important in font management: brand consistency, reduced license risk, availability of the fonts they need, visibility and control of usage, and work efficiency.
Monotype COO James Porter said today's brands are expressed through far more people than just the brand or design team that created them.
Earlier study on creative operations
In 2025, a study titled "Scaling Creative Operations," published by Monotype and Extensis, found that 82% of respondents said font management is important to creative operations.
