Naver Pay issues 12,871 NFT tickets for National Sports Festival opening

Naver Pay introduced blockchain-based NFT admission tickets and venue visit verification services at the 107th National Sports Festival, which opened on October 16, according to bloter.net. A total of 12,871 NFT tickets were issued through the Npay Wallet for the opening ceremony.

Visitors logged in with a Naver ID, opened an Npay Wallet and received their opening ceremony admission ticket as an NFT image on their phone. Visit records for 50 events across 74 venues will be issued as NFTs through October 22.

Applicants who verify attendance at the opening or closing ceremony, or at a venue, receive 10,000 won of Tamna-neun Jeon, the Jeju local currency, per verification, up to 20,000 won per person. Presenting an NFT ticket or participation certificate also gives free or up to 50% discounted entry at 24 public tourist sites, including Seongsan Ilchulbong.

Naver Pay has run similar NFT ticketing before. At the National Para Sports Festival in September, about 4,200 opening ceremony NFTs and about 2,200 venue visit verification NFTs were issued. At the Audi Football Summit in August, 5,500 of 22,000 attendees entered with the Npay Wallet.

The company previously introduced NFT tickets at NC Dinos professional baseball home games and at a KLPGA golf tournament. Some restaurants in Seocho-gu had Npay Connect offline terminals supporting the Face Sign face-recognition payment service, with a 10% reward for face payments.
