Netflix Hires Former Apple Podcasts Executive Steve Wilson

Wilson, who later served as chief strategy officer at QCode, will lead Netflix's push into video podcasts as it takes on YouTube.

Netflix has hired Steve Wilson, formerly of Apple Podcasts, to lead its podcast business, Bloomberg reported on October 26. The move comes as the streaming company expands video podcasts as an additional content genre alongside films, TV series and live entertainment.

At Apple Podcasts, Wilson managed relationships with creators and talent. After leaving Apple, he served as chief strategy officer at podcast production company QCode, now known as Daylight Media.

Netflix already has podcast distribution deals in place with Spotify, iHeartMedia and Barstool Sports. The company has also secured popular programs including Jay Shetty's On Purpose and The Breakfast Club.

Some well-known podcast creators turned down Netflix's offers because the company required them to remove their video content from YouTube.
