OpenAI adds texting to personal agent Dot for Pro users
Pro subscribers in the US can send tasks to Dot by text, photos or voice notes, and the agent can message them first with updates.
OpenAI has added a text messaging feature to Dot, its personal AI agent, and is rolling it out as a preview for ChatGPT Pro users in the United States, according to digitaltoday.co.kr. The company had announced the planned text integration when it unveiled Dot at the end of the previous month.
Users can send tasks to Dot by text, photos and voice notes. Dot can also text users on its own with updates on the tasks it is handling. To turn the feature on, users open the Dot profile in ChatGPT and select the send-text option. iPhone users need iMessage enabled, while Android users need RCS.
OpenAI built the text feature with messaging company Linq. Memory stored by Dot is shared between ChatGPT and the text environment, so context carries over between the two. Dot is not currently available to ChatGPT Plus subscribers.
OpenAI said penetration testing was carried out by its own models and by external security firms.
The update lands days after Anthropic introduced its own personal agent, Claude Duet, which is running a waitlist for US users and is planned for subscribers of its $20-per-month Pro plan.
