Kaspersky Finds AI-Themed Phishing Emails Fool 45% of Employees

Kaspersky analysed phishing simulation data from its KASAP platform and introduced three new pricing plans, including KASAP Essential for SMBs.

Kaspersky has published an analysis of phishing simulation data from its Kaspersky Automated Security Awareness Platform (KASAP), identifying the email themes employees most often mistake for genuine work correspondence, according to dailysecu.com. The company also introduced three new KASAP pricing plans, including KASAP Essential, aimed at small and medium businesses.

Tech and AI-themed messages topped the click-rate findings: emails presenting next-generation AI drew a 45% click rate. Medical and insurance-themed emails averaged 28%, while a hygiene inspection report email reached 92%.

IT policy and compliance emails drew 26%, and within that group approval-request emails fooled 48% of employees. Gifts and promotions drew 24%, but a national team jersey giveaway tied to FIFA reached 66%.

Emails mimicking HR and internal communications drew 22%, relying mainly on internal surveys and dress-code notices.

New pricing tiers

The three new KASAP plans are intended to broaden access to the platform's awareness training, with the Essential tier targeted at smaller organisations.

Kaspersky noted that phishing remains one of the most frequent cybersecurity incidents for companies of all sizes, and that abuse of AI is making attacks more sophisticated and multi-stage.
