OpenAI Unveils $500 Pro 500 Plan, Cuts $200 Pro Limits
At DevDay, OpenAI launched a $500/month Pro 500 tier with Ultrafast and Dot, cut existing $200 Pro allowances, and introduced GPT-6.1 Sol.
OpenAI announced a new Pro 500 subscription plan priced at $500 per month at its DevDay event. The tier offers the company's highest usage allowance and access to a new Ultrafast feature, which lets the Codex and Work apps generate up to 300 tokens per second. Ultrafast is also available to API users.
The launch comes with changes for existing subscribers. OpenAI reduced included usage for current $200 Pro subscribers in Codex and Work from 20x to 10x the Plus allowance, and GPT-6 Pro message caps in ChatGPT will decrease from 200 to 100 per week. Existing subscribers keep their current limits for a time and will receive a one-time credit.
All Pro subscribers get a single Dot, OpenAI's new personal AI agent. Dot conversations do not count toward ChatGPT usage limits.
OpenAI also announced GPT-6.1 Sol, which offers nearly the performance of GPT-6.0 Astra in coding and computer use at one fifth the price. Sol is available today in Codex and Work for Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, and Education users, with ChatGPT availability to follow later.
The company is partnering with 16 companies, including Notion and Cognition, to enable "Sign in with ChatGPT" for running OpenAI models without an API key, as reported by Engadget.

At the end of 2024, OpenAI became the first AI lab to introduce a $200 Pro plan. Nearly every other provider, including Anthropic and Perplexity, later announced their own $200 tiers.
