Oura sues Ultrahuman again, seeks US ban on Ring Pro

The suit names contractor SVTronics and cites two patents, one issued just two days before filing; Ultrahuman says the redesigned ring does not infringe.

Oura has filed a new patent infringement lawsuit against Ultrahuman in a federal court in Texas, according to gsmarena.com. The Finnish smart ring maker is seeking monetary damages and a court order that would block all US sales of the Ultrahuman Ring Pro.

The complaint cites two patents covering design and internal components. One of them was issued just two days before the lawsuit was filed. SVTronics, the contractor that manufactures the Ring Pro in Plano, Texas, is also named as a defendant.

Ultrahuman says the Ring Pro's redesign addressed the issues Oura raised over the earlier Ring Air, and that US Customs and Border Protection has approved the new model. Oura rejects that position, stating that the Ring Pro does not infringe its patents.

The Ring Pro remains on sale in the US until a court ruling orders otherwise.

Earlier case
