Polaroid has announced the Polaroid Mod, a new instant camera that launches globally starting today for $169.99 through the company's online store. It will reach other US retailers on October 6th.
The Mod puts exposure control up front with a Brightness dial. A second dial around the lens switches between four creative shooting modes, each producing analog effects captured in-camera rather than added digitally: Double Exposure, Split Shot, Light Painting, and Motion Freeze.
The camera uses a fixed focus two-lens system: a 103mm standard lens and a 95mm portrait lens that can be swapped as needed. It works with Polaroid i-Type and 600 film stocks in color or black and white.
Power comes from a 750mAh battery that Polaroid says can shoot up to 15 packs of film, or up to 120 exposures, on a full charge.
