Microsoft PowerToys 0.102 adds Mouse Button Lock and CursorHide
The update introduces two mouse utilities: one holds a button for drag-selection, the other hides the cursor while typing or after inactivity.
Microsoft has released PowerToys version 0.102, adding two mouse-focused tools to its free Windows utility suite: Mouse Button Lock and CursorHide, according to ZDNET.
Mouse Button Lock lets a user hold and release a mouse button, move the mouse to select a block of text, and then click again to stop the selection. The tool can be set to use the left, right or middle mouse button as the trigger, with the hold duration configured in milliseconds and the movement distance in pixels.
CursorHide removes the mouse cursor from view while the user is typing, or after a set period of cursor inactivity. The inactivity delay can be configured from 1 to 60 seconds.
PowerToys can be installed from the Microsoft Store or the PowerToys GitHub page, and existing installations can be updated from within the app.
Overlap with a built-in Windows setting
Windows already includes a comparable option for holding a mouse button: the ClickLock setting, found under Settings, Accessibility, Mouse.
