QNAP shows HDP for Business beta and ADRA NDR X at World Tour 2026

The backup software verifies restores by booting them as virtual machines on the NAS, while ADRA NDR X detects threats without agents on PCs.

QNAP presented a beta version of its HDP for Business backup software and its ADRA NDR X network threat detection software at the QNAP World Tour 2026 event on October 28, 2026, according to internet.watch.impress.co.jp. The company used the event to show its latest backup, storage and security products and solutions.

HDP for Business centrally manages backups of Windows PCs and servers, VMware, Hyper-V and Proxmox virtual machines, file servers, and SQL Server and Oracle databases. After a backup completes, the software automatically tests restore and boot on the backup server, running the backup as a virtual machine on the NAS through Virtualization Station. The boot screen is recorded as video, from BIOS startup through OS loading to the login screen.

For ransomware protection, HDP for Business offers immutable backup, object lock and Airgap+. Immutable backup runs on devices with QNAP's QuTS hero NAS OS and locks written data so it cannot be changed or deleted during the retention period, even by administrators. Airgap+ receives backups at scheduled times and powers off the backup server otherwise. Instant restore runs a backup directly as a virtual machine on the NAS to shorten recovery time.

The software also supports centralized management of backup status across multiple sites, automatic inclusion of newly added virtual machines in backups by preset rules, and per-user restore permissions.

Network threat detection

ADRA NDR X detects and analyzes threats inside corporate networks, including attackers' lateral movement. It analyzes traffic copied from a switch's mirror port to the NAS, so no agent is needed on each PC, and detects using more than 43,000 signatures covering scanning, anomalous operations, exploitation of system vulnerabilities, and malware and ransomware. AI behavior learning is based on each device's traffic volume, connection destinations, activity times and protocols.

On detecting a high-risk event, the switch blocks the target device's MAC address and isolates it from the network while a NAS snapshot is taken. An LLM analyzes suspicious packets and produces reports summarizing threats and countermeasures. ADRA NDR X is free to use and requires compatible NAS and switches; support was shown for some Cisco, HPE and Aruba switches as well as QNAP's own.

Quick answers

What is HDP for Business?

A QNAP backup software, currently in beta, that centrally manages backups of PCs, servers, virtual machines and databases and automatically tests restores by booting them as virtual machines on the NAS.

How much does ADRA NDR X cost?

It is free to use, but requires compatible NAS and switches.

Does ADRA NDR X need software installed on each PC?

No. It analyzes traffic copied from a switch's mirror port to the NAS, so no agent is required on each PC.
