JLR Unveils Range Rover Sport Electric from £109,810

JLR has announced the Range Rover Sport Electric, an all-electric performance SUV that starts from £109,810. No US prices have been announced yet. The model uses the same powertrain as the Range Rover Electric but with different tuning.

Two 260-kilowatt motors produce up to 550 PS and 850 Nm of torque. In Dynamic Launch Mode, the SUV accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds. A 118.5-kilowatt-hour battery provides up to 374 miles of WLTP range, estimated at about 320 miles under EPA testing. An 800-volt architecture and split-charging tech allow 136 miles of range in 10 minutes and a 10 to 80 percent charge in 22 minutes.

The Range Rover Sport Electric features all-wheel steering, electronic Active Roll Control, and an adaptive dynamics system that monitors 100 parameters 500 times per second. It can wade through 900 mm of water and handle 45-degree inclines. An aerodynamically optimized grille and alloy wheels add up to 10 miles of motorway range.

At the start of September, JLR launched the full-fat Range Rover Electric. Next week, Jaguar will reveal the Type 01 in New York City. Earlier this month, JLR announced it is cutting 4,000 jobs over the next two years. Earlier this year, Polestar was banned from selling cars in the US due to a rule banning Chinese software in internet-connected vehicles.
