Reddit to Shift Toward Primarily Logged-In Experience

The platform will first test the change in select markets outside the U.S. in Q4 2026, as search referral traffic drops by over 1 million per week.

Reddit said in its third-quarter 2026 earnings report that it is moving toward a primarily logged-in experience, with the first tests planned for select markets outside the U.S. in the fourth quarter of 2026, according to TechCrunch. The company did not give a timeline for a worldwide rollout.

The announcement came as Reddit reported that search referral traffic fell by more than 1 million referrals per week on average in October 2026. Reddit has long drawn visitors through Google search, with many users adding the platform's name to their queries.

Reddit said it will keep an incognito mode and that being logged in does not require users to give up anonymity.

Global daily active users stood at 130.3 million in the third quarter, flat quarter-over-quarter. U.S. daily active users fell from 53.2 million in the second quarter to 50.7 million, down 2% year-over-year.

Financially, revenue rose 53% year-over-year to $895 million, with net income up 74% to $283 million. Advertising revenue grew 54% to $847 million, while non-advertising revenue, including AI data licensing, rose 35% to $48 million. Average revenue per U.S. daily active user rose 53% to $13.82, and 36% globally to $6.87.

Reddit also launched a new algorithmic "For You" feed the day before the earnings release.
