SEMICON West 2026 Opens in San Francisco, Final Edition Before Phoenix Move

SEMICON West 2026 opened Monday, October 13, at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, according to etnews.com. The event is the first edition since global semiconductor sales surpassed $1 trillion in annual revenue and the last to be held in San Francisco before it moves to the Phoenix Convention Center in Arizona next spring.

SEMI set the theme for this year's event as "Transform Tomorrow." The 2026 program focuses on advanced packaging, heterogeneous integration and photonics, with organizers expecting 1,500 exhibition booths, 500 speakers, about 60 technology sessions and more than 35,000 attendees.

Industry leaders and government agencies take part

Executives from Nvidia, Intel, Micron and AMD are participating in the CEO Summit. The U.S. Department of Commerce, Department of State and the National Science Foundation are also on the participant list.

Korean companies have a visible presence at the event. Hanmi Semiconductor, Koh Young Technology and Dongjin Semichem have individual booths, while 15 Korean companies are participating in the KOREA Pavilion organized by KOTRA Silicon Valley.

The $1 trillion milestone was reached almost four years earlier than expected because of surging AI demand, SEMI Americas president Joe Stockunas said. According to WSTS, cumulative global semiconductor sales surpassed $1 trillion in August 2026. Global semiconductor revenue was $800 billion last year and is projected to grow to $1.5-1.6 trillion this year. McKinsey, Gartner and SEMI had originally expected revenue to reach $1 trillion around 2030, based on about $600 billion in 2021 and annual growth of 6-8%.
