SK chairman Chey Tae-won gives five-day AI lecture series on EBS
The SK Group chairman used the EBS program to argue schools in the AI era should be places of experimentation, and called for an economic community with Japan.
SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won delivered a five-day lecture series titled "AI, New Capitalism and Youth" on EBS's program "Great Lecture" from 12 to 16 October 2026, according to inews24.com.
In the 16 October installment, Chey said schools in the AI era should become places of experimentation rather than learning.
On 14 October, he called for economic solidarity with Japan that goes beyond cooperation to an economic community. A day later, he discussed the role of leaders in the AI era, saying leaders should do what AI cannot.
Chey also said he creates multiple AI agents himself to organize his schedule and report content.
Korea-Japan proposal
The economic community idea is not new for Chey. In 2023, at the Tokyo Forum, he argued that the single global market was nearly over and proposed a South Korea-Japan economic cooperation body. Last month, in an interview with Asahi Shimbun, he described the idea as something he had held for a long time, tracing it to a 2002 lecture at Seoul National University.
In August last year, at the Icheon Forum, he said each employee must be able to use AI familiarly to achieve innovation and success.
