SK Telecom Wins Network X Award for AI-RAN Vehicle Transfer Tech

SK Telecom won the "Most Innovative 5G Communication Service" award at the Network X Awards held in Vienna, Austria, on October 14, according to digitaltoday.co.kr. The company was recognized for its AI-RAN-based autonomous vehicle transfer technology for finished vehicles.

AI-RAN is a next-generation network infrastructure designed to provide telecom and AI services simultaneously. SK Telecom said it developed an AI-RAN base station and confirmed through verification that stable communication quality is maintained even while processing AI services.

The award-winning technology, autonomous vehicle transfer, automates vehicle transfer and alignment tasks based on a network. It uses LiDAR sensors and digital twin technology to calculate driving routes.

Network X is an international event organized by global ICT media and research company Informa and was held from October 13 to 15 this year.

Plans for domestic deployment

SK Telecom plans to apply and verify the technology in domestic finished vehicle factories by 2027 through the national project "Hyper AI Network Infrastructure Construction."
