Sonic Lamb Beyond Headphones Bring Skin-Vibration Bass for $249

The Beyond headphones use an Impulse Driver in each ear to transmit low-frequency vibration through the skin, and ship in the US in November 2026.

Sonic Lamb has announced the Beyond headphones, a new model that carries an Impulse Driver in each ear, according to TechRadar. The headphones are set to go on sale in the US in November 2026 for $249 (about £187 / AU$357).

The Impulse Driver sends low-frequency vibration as low as 2Hz through the headphones' wooferpads, so the wearer feels the bass through the skin rather than hearing it alone. The Beyond offers 10 intensity levels and personalized profiles for music, movies, gaming and custom preferences.

On the connectivity side, the headphones pack Bluetooth 5.4, LDAC, aptX Lossless, Bluetooth LE Audio, LC3, USB-C digital audio, 3.5 mm analogue audio and multipoint connectivity. Sonic Lamb lists no active noise cancellation, and battery life is rated at up to 40 hours.

A separate dongle called Beyond Link provides low-latency connectivity for gaming.

Earlier skin-bass hardware

TechRadar tested the first generation of Sonic Lamb's skin-vibration bass technology and found it subtle but effective. That first model drew criticism for a design described as a little unrefined, though its sound, comfort, weight and padding were praised. Ol' Thumpy was an earlier attempt at physical bass in headphones, one whose wearer looked like a human dumbbell.
