Sony's 6-inch ELF-MN1 spatial display launches Dec 11 for around 54,000 yen

Sony's glasses-free 3D display uses an IR sensor for eye tracking in dark rooms, connects via a single USB-C cable, and has 403ppi resolution.

Sony announced the ELF-MN1, a 6-inch spatial reproduction display, on October 28. The device is scheduled to launch on December 11 at an estimated market price of around 54,000 yen, according to automaton-media.com.

The ELF-MN1 allows glasses-free stereoscopic viewing of 3D content such as avatars and characters. It has a resolution of 403ppi, the highest among Sony's spatial reproduction displays. The stand is made of acrylic.

The display connects to a smartphone or PC with a single USB-C cable and can also supply power to a smartphone. Sony says the device adds an infrared sensor to its conventional line-of-sight sensor to track eye position even in dark environments.

Four compatible applications have been announced: HoloModel, a digital figure service by Gugenka; Deskrium, a 3D data viewer; Animates, an AI companion app by Animation Inc.; and Fenestra: my focus, her future, a focus-training game planned for sale on Steam by STAYRESIDENT. A developer SDK allows creating original content.

The ELF-MN1 will be exhibited at Sony Store Ginza and Sony Store Nagoya ahead of launch. Sony previously released the 15.6-inch ELF-SR1 and the 27-inch ELF-SR2 spatial reproduction displays, mainly aimed at business use.
