StepFun launches STEPX Neo AI agent phone at 3,999 yuan

The STEPX Neo runs StepFun's own Step AOS 1.0 with the built-in Amoo agent and includes 12 months of AI usage, priced at 3,999 yuan.

Chinese AI startup StepFun launched the STEPX Neo, a smartphone built around AI agents rather than apps, the company announced on October 17, 2026. The device is priced at 3,999 yuan (about 560 dollars), according to digitaltoday.co.kr.

The price includes a 12-month AI usage pass that allows 1,000 billion tokens per month. StepFun did not disclose what the AI usage fee will be after the first year.

The STEPX Neo does not run AI as a downloadable app. Instead, it provides an AI agent named Amoo built into the base operating system, Step AOS 1.0. StepFun says that by stating only a destination, Amoo handles the rest without opening a ride-hailing app and entering an address.

An operating system built for agents

StepFun says Step AOS was newly developed for agents, unlike Siri or Gemini inside iOS or Android, with long-term memory, task scheduling and security implemented in the base layer.

StepFun was founded in 2023 by a former Microsoft vice president, Jang Da-shin. Tencent has invested in the company.
