Cinematographer Steve Yedlin launches $13 Chromagraph Camera app for iPhone

The app captures RAW data and applies processing modelled on Yedlin's film-production image pipeline; it supports stills only for now.

Cinematographer Steve Yedlin has released a photography app for the iPhone called Chromagraph Camera, a paid app carrying a one-time fee of $13.

The app captures RAW image data and processes it with a formula similar to the image processing Yedlin uses in film production. It currently supports still photos only, with no video support yet.

Yedlin built Chromagraph Camera with programmer Eric Cameron, and with director Rian Johnson, his longtime collaborator.

In late October, Johnson promoted the app on social media, after which it became the top paid download in the iOS store, according to wired.com.

Background

Yedlin has shot several of Johnson's films, including Knives Out and Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The pair experimented with the app for a couple of months before launch.
